About Emy
Who I Am and What I Do
I use a unique combination of warmth, empathy, creativity, and humor.
A little background…
After a childhood spent in theatre, dance, and music, I received my undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies from Wesleyan University and a Masters in Social Work from NYU. I have worked since 2001 as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-R) in the NYC area treating diverse adult clinical populations, from college-aged through seniors, and with all sexual orientations.
I have treated clients dealing with varying degrees of mental illness and substance use disorders. I have worked at Riverdale Mental Health in the Bronx (now Mosaic Mental Health), St. Vincent’s Hospital in Westchester, and Housing Works Community Healthcare on the Lower East Side. I live in NYC with my family and our adopted shih-poo, Sadie.
Working with me, you will experience:
- An active, individualized approach to treatment, working WITH you to define your goals, identify obstacles, and help you get to where YOU want to be;
- A unique combination of warmth, empathy, creativity, and humor to help guide you toward reaching your goals and rebuilding your life;
- A warm, accepting environment, in which I challenge you to challenge yourself and create the life you want to live.
With the therapeutic relationship at the center of treatment, I use a range of modalities tailored to your needs, preferences and style, including: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Harm Reduction, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), DBT-based Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic models.
